Here's an overly delayed (due to lack of internet access) post of our last day in Nepal.
Our plan was to visit a village called Nagarkot, but the roads were unexpectedly blocked, so after 30 minutes or so of going forward and backing up on tiny trails that barely fit one vehicle, we decided to visit somewhere closer called Dhulikhel.

Our first full day in Nepal, we visited the now completed library set up in Chanakhel village, which is about 15 km outside of Kathmandu.
ネパールの初日、チャナケルというカトマンズから１５キロほど離れたところにある村で、公立学校の敷地に創立された図書館です。
The completed library room, available to 40-50 children daily. この図書館は毎日４０−５０人の子どもたちが使います。

This school opened nearly 20 years ago, and yet is still in a state of disrepair due to lack of funding from the government.

These past couple of days we visited "Carnation" and "Daisy" kindergartens. Each school is named after a flower, as each flower is special and unique.
昨日と今日は「カーネーション」と「デイジー」保育園を訪問しました。Building Blocksの保育園はすべて、花の名前でABCの順番で名付けられています。世界に一つだけの花。。。みんな特別でユニークな子ども達♪

We've been SO SO impressed with the good standard of each of these schools--the cleanliness, the teaching method, the dedication of the teachers, and tireless effort of the founder, Mr. James.
それぞれのBuilding Blocks保育園を訪問してて、スタンタードの高さ、清潔さ、教育システム、そして、先生達の献身さと、何よりも創立者の心のこもった努力に関心するばかりです。
This 4 year old (above) has learned to sound out words and can read them fluently! This will give her a great head-start in building a good foundation in English.

自分の親より英語を読み書きできるようになり、素晴らしい基盤づくりです。

６月には６つ目の保育園「フリーシャ」が開校します。もう１００人の子ども達が保育園に通えることになる。。。そして、彼らの教育の基盤がきちんと築かれ、将来の可能性が広がる。これからはこの子ども達の教育維持（ほいkが課題になっていきます。
By June, the 6th school, "Freesia" will open to 100 more children from the slums. These kids will need your support to make their continued education possible.
The children are fed 2 nutritious meals a day (breakfast and lunch), which at home they are not able to eat.

When the children first start attending, most have never eaten with anything besides their hands, so from 4 they start getting used to eating with forks and spoons.

ここがこの学校の周辺のスラム街。この湖の周りに2000家族あたり住んでいる。
ほとんどの親は学校に行ったこともなく、読み書きもできないけど、自分の子どもたちがこの英語を教える学校へ行く事によって、彼らの可能性が何十倍にも広がる！
Building Blocks "Bluebells" is near the banks of a lake where nearly 2000 families live.
Most of the parents have never gone to school and are mostly illiterate. However, through their children attending this Building Blocks school and learning English from a young age, their future opportunity expands greatly!

Here are the incense sticks which the women make, getting less than a dollar for 2000 sticks, which takes them at least all day.
However, it's necessary work for mothers who can't go far to work.

Today we visited one of Building Blocks Preschools, named Edelweiss. It was magical to see all the children thrilled to go to school and learn. No one would guess that they come from a slum right across from a big shopping mall.
The land of the extremely rich and extremely poor....however, just because they're poor doesn't mean that there's a lack of hope. The children's eyes spoke volumes!
今日はビルディングブロックスが始めた、「エイデルワイス」と名付けられた保育園を訪問しました。この子達は目をキラキラさせながら、週に六日間学校へ行きます。彼らは３−５歳児、一日に２００円−５００円で生活している家庭からだと思えません。彼らが生まれ育ったスラム街の道路の反対には大きなショッピングモール。貧富の差が激しいインド。しかし、貧しくても希望で溢れている子どもたちと会えて、感動しました。

Few hundred families live in these slums. 何百人の家族がこのスラム街に。。。
料理はキッチンが一部屋（家族６人ぐらいが部屋で暮らしています）の中にないので、外で夕飯の準備。
Since there is no kitchen inside the one-roomed house where a family of up to 6 or more people live, dinner is prepared outside.

I didn't plan on keeping a blog this trip, but I suddenly had the inspiration to write something up (...and I also had lots of time in between flights, heh)
We're now on our way to India via Thai Airways.
It's been 8 years since I've been in India last. Last time I went with an NPO from Hiroshima with a bunch of other young people when I was 17. I'm looking forward to seeing how India has changed.
The purpose of this trip is mainly to meet with our friends in both India and Nepal who have a well established work, providing education for underprivileged children. We plan to see the situation first hand, find out what the most urgent needs are and how we can help.
We are looking to setting up an efficient channel through which those who are interested in Japan and other parts of the world, can be and feel involved, knowing exactly where their funds are being invested and how its making a difference.
Wish us safe travels! We'll be arriving close to midnight in Bengaluru Airport.
今回はブログを書くつもりはなかったけど、インスピレーションで（そして、フライットの間の時間が長いから）少し書いてみようと思います。
今はタイairways経由で、インドへ向かっています。
インドは８年ぶり。前回行った時は広島で活動していたNPOと一緒だった。どう変わっているのかな。ドキドキ＆ワクワクでいっぱいです♪
今回の目的はインドとネパールで教育支援を長くされている友人の活動を訪問し、現状と何が一番必要か検討し、それに対してどうサポートしていけるか話しに行きます。
将来は日本や世界中でこういった子ども達の教育支援に興味をもたれた方々が簡単に目に見える形でサポートしていけるようなチャンネルを作りたいと思っています。
ベナルル空港には夜中近くに着陸する予定です。

Since today is our last day in Nepal, we would like to dedicate this post to our hosts.
今日はネパールにいる最後の日なので、私たちを受け入れてくれたジェームズさんとアプサラさんについて書きたいと思います。
We would like to thank James and Apsala (James’ niece) for their love, care and support in almost every way during our stay here. Apsala’s smile is very sweet. Even though she speaks very little English, we somehow understand each other. She is also a wonderful cook. There are no left overs.......regardless of our dieting plan. :P She helped and supported our lives in many ways that made our stay much smoother and very enjoyable. We enjoyed the many after dinner talks with her over tea.
まず、私たちがネパールにいる間に頂いた暖かさ、思いやりとサポートを本当に感謝しています。アプサラさんの笑顔は本当にやさしいです。英語は少ししか話せなくても、意思の疎通ができるのがすごかったです。彼女のお料理もとってもおいしかったです。ダイエットの計画があるつもりだったのにいつの間にか何も残さずに食べてしまいました。(汗) 彼女がいろいろと手伝ってくれたおかげでここにいる時間がよりスムーズに、そして楽しくなりました。夕食の後、ティーを飲みながらの会話が思い出です。ニコ。
James is probably the most considerate, reliable and trust worthy host that you can find. He is also very knowledgeable about the places we visit or the things we need to know, which we really appreciated.
ジェームズさんは気配りがよく、とっても頼りになる、信頼できるホストです。私たちが行った所について必要な情報を教えてくれて、感謝しています。
He is also very optimistic and we haven’t heard a single complaint, despite our many requests and curious questions-he’s been so accomodating.
そして、彼はとてもポジティブで苦情は一つも言わず、私たちの頼み事や数多くの質問をしてもいつもとても優しく対応してくれます。
Also, he really has a heart for the children. When you see them together, you can feel the connection and bonds no less stronger than a true family can carry. We were deeply touched by that.
あと、彼は子ども達に対して愛情深い心を持っています。一緒にいる姿を見ると、本当の家族のような繋がりやコネクションを持っているということが良くわかります。心が強く打たれました。
Today we had a wonderful goodbye dinner together. After that, we all got together and talked about our thoughts and feelings about this trip. We were all thankful for what we have experienced here in Nepal. This trip made a special connection between us and this place. Each of us in our own way, learned different lessons which we would like to apply to our daily lives.
今日はとても素晴らしいお別れのディナーの時間を過ごすことができました。その後、皆一緒にこの旅の思い出や感じたことについて話しました。ネパールで経験したことすべてをとても感謝してます。今回の旅のおかげでネパールの皆さんとの間に特別なコネクションが築けたと思います。ここで学んだことが皆それぞれですが、この学びを今後も活かしたいです。
